Take the Watt Watchers Energy Challenge.

Turn energy-saving lessons into action with the Watt Watchers Energy Saving Challenge! Students complete as many energy-saving activities as they can while learning how everyday choices can reduce energy and water waste at school and at home.

How the Challenge Works

Choose a challenge period that works for your school—from 7 to 30 days—and provide each student with a challenge checklist. Activities range from turning off unused lights and electronics to reducing waste, conserving water, and learning about renewable energy.

Students can participate individually, as a classroom, or as part of a schoolwide challenge. Encourage them to track their progress and share what they learn with their families, teachers, and classmates.

Make It Fun

Celebrate your students’ participation and success! Schools might recognize students with certificates, classroom awards, extra recess, an ice cream social, or a pizza party. The goal is to make saving energy fun while helping students build habits that can create lasting change.

The Energy Saving Challenge can also serve as a simple alternative for educators who are not yet ready to implement a full Watt Watchers Student Patrol. It provides an easy, engaging way to introduce energy-saving practices and start conversations throughout your school community.
